What's New (June 14, 2007)
Hi Everybody!
The bad news is that the SMJUHSD Board voted last evening to postpone our opening until next fall. This is something that was totally unexpected. We had no idea whatsoever that the District was intending to do something like this.
The important point now is that we decide where to go from here. We have many options. Our MTA Board and Advisor group will be meeting tomorrow to discus our options and what we would like to do now. This will be a very big decision. We still believe in our school and hope that you will join us with your support if you would still like us to move forward.
After the Board and Advisors (teachers remember) meet, we will contact every parent and student. We would like this action to bring us together and make us more determined. If we stand together we are strong.
We have been conducting interview-assessments and because of this postponement, we have cancelled the meetings that were scheduled for the rest of the week.
If you wish to be placed on a list for future meetings, please email me at krjimison@charter.net, and I will make sure you are notified. If for some reason, we have misplaced your name and contact information, please let us know! It certainly isn't our intention to leave anyone out, but sometimes mistakes happen!
The great thing about our school is that parents choose! If parents don't like what we are doing--if we don't give each student the best education possible, parents can simply take their sons and daughters out of our school and enroll them back into one of the conventional schools. We are willing to gamble that parents and students will love our school. This is what makes school choice so great!
